Background: As a child, she grew up in a relatively normal household, the second child and only daughter of the Fujimiya family. Her father was a banker and her mother, a housewife. Most of her childhood was, by all indications, a happy one, where she liked to bake cookies before dinner and force her brother, Ran, to eat them, therefore ruining his appetite for dinner later on.

On her 16th birthday is when everything changed. Having gone to a festival with her brother, they had returned home to find their parents on the kitchen floor. Ran yelled at her to run and she barely made it out of the house before the explosion that ripped through it forced her out onto the street. Picking herself up from the ground, she turned and saw her brother pinned beneath the rubble. Starting to rush to his aid, she is instead met by the front end of a black limousine that hits her head on and throws her into the air. She landed on the ground a few feet away, unconscious.

Two years pass, and she sleeps, her fingers clutching the earring her brother left with her as his promise to avenge what had happened to them and their family.

Somewhere during this time, following Weiss's defeat of Takatori Reiji, Aya is kidnapped from her hospital room by Schreient, who was hired by Schwartz for Este's ritual. It is believed that Aya might be the key to this, as apparently while she's been in a coma for two years, her body has not aged, giving her the appearance of her 16-year-old self. What follows is an extensive game of "Who's Got Aya-chan?" as Tomoe Sakura uses her striking resemblance to Aya to play body double and possession of Aya switches from Schwarz to Weiss to Este and all over the place. Following the battle in the temple by the sea, Sakura and Manx escape, only to watch the temple sink into the water, seemingly taking Weiss and the others with it.

Upon awakening from her coma, Aya is met by the started eyes of both Sakura and Manx, who had not expected her to wake up. Sakura leads her to the edge of the cliff, overlooking where the temple once stood and says that she will tell her of the "Aya that lived on for you, while you slept."

Following this, Aya takes up residence at the Koneko, working with Momo-san and Sakura under Manx and Birman's watchful eyes and attending a part time school to finish the schooling she never got the chance to finish. And while Aya knows that her brother is alive and out there somewhere and wishes for him to come back, she knows that there is a strong possibility that he won't, something she finds she can live with, as long as he is still alive.

That doesn't keep her from searching for him though, as she accompanies Sakura to Kyoto, where they had last heard of traveling florists, only to get there too late. Not long after, Sakura leaves for school in France, and Aya is left in Tokyo, finishing her schooling and working at the Koneko.

And then one day, she wakes up in a strange new place that is certainly not Tokyo.

Personality: Before her coma, Aya was a bubbling, happy, normal 16 year old who liked to sucker her brother into buying things for her or taking a picture with her on a family trip to Sendai with a grin and a smile. They were each other's best friends. She was a dreamer as well, once writing in a fourth grade essay that she wanted to open her own bakery. Later on, it's said that she wanted to become a nurse.

Following her coma, Aya found herself in a world different from the one she remembered, where her parents were dead and her brother's deeds merely a story told to her by Sakura. While still having her happy, bubbly personality, she is, however, a realist, knowing that while her brother is alive and out there somewhere, she doesn't believe he will be coming back, something she tells Sakura repeatedly, even though the other girl continues to hope that he will come back. Aya certainly hopes so as well, but knows that she'll be happy with him just being alive.

Aya's also a bit of a downer on herself, as she tells Sakura when they are invited to a party that the guys thought she (Sakura) was cute and "they are all after you anyway." She is, however, trying to make up for the time she lost, by attempting to make up for things she missed, such as school trips when she and Sakura visit Kyoto looking for her brother.
